Christmas Star Progress

Well, half the feathers (or teeth) are done.  I'm pushing through to get the rest of them done.  These are the easy parts.  I'm worried about what happens when I'm ready to sew the parts together.  From what I hear, there are at least 37 ways to sew it together and all of them require lots of "Y" seams.  I've never done "y" seams, so I'm a bit hesitant.  I'm sure I'll do fine, but it still makes me a bit nervous.

Y seams are really easy, you just need to take the time to mark the intersections. It is just sew, stop, pivot, sew. You'll do great and after a while you will wonder why you were so hesitant.

Y-seams are nothing to be afraid of... Mark your intersections accurately, pin just enough to keep the pieces aligned, and check out you tube for video demos! Honestly easy!

Beautiful! New skills are a bit scary but given what you've learned in such a short few years, I'll bet you are up to the challenge.

Jan Krentz' approach for sewing lone stars (and other with Y seams) works best for me. If you are looking around at options, be sure to look for one of her books at the library/bookstore and see what you think.

I love the colors you have chosen for your Christmas Star. it's going to be spectacular.

This is beautiful! I don't enjoy y seams either, but you wil get better with each one if you can stick with it!

Wow. Love the block and your colors. Y-seams aren't hard, just time consuming. Just a lot of pinning, stop/starts and some pivots if necessary. It will be well worth the effort when this is done. Good Luck!
