The board is empty

Woohoo!  This weekend I finished up the last quilt to be quilted on my board.  There are still 2 remaining, but they are ones that I cannot do because they are too big for my quilt frame.

I will have to:

  • find another machine to use
  • pay somebody else to do them for me
  • hand quilt them
Hmmmmmm......

Meanwhile Back on the Farm

It's been 7 weeks since I planted my Tomato plants and squash seeds.  I have little tomatoes now.  And there are lots of squash blossoms, but still no squash.

Bleeding Heart

Mom grew up in a house that had a huge bleeding heart bush out front and every time she sees one, she tells me about it again.

I found this huge bleeding heart bush and gave it to her for Mother's Day.  It is really beautiful!

(I hope it lives.  The last one I gave her died)

...Brings May Flowers

It's good to know that all that rain was put to good use.  I love being in the yard this time of year to see all of the growing things!

Wednesday Group

Went to Thelma's for Wednesday Group.  This is our hand quilting group.  We are between quilts right now, so Thelma did a nice little presentation on different techniques on marking quilts for quilting.  She even had sample fabrics and templates and stencils for us to try.  She even had handouts.  See what happens when you as a former teacher to give a little talk.....

While we were there, Gene gave us a tour of the greenhouse so we could see all of the blooming orchids.  The local orchid society, which he belongs to, rescues non-blooming orchids from Whole Foods and keeps them until they are ready to bloom again and then they take them to the hospital to the cancer patients.  There was a whole batch that would be leaving this evening, so we were there at the perfect time to see them.

Swimsuit Shopping

Next month I have water aerobics classes to attend, so I was in need of a swimsuit, or some sort of water attire.

When was the last time you shopped for a swimsuit?  It's literally been years for me.  Maybe even 10 years.  What a shock!

Don't want to be doing that again any time soon!

More Progress

Got three more quilts done this weekend.  One was baby sized.  One was child sized.  And the last was more like double bed sized.  That was Mom's Craftsman Quilt.  It really came out gorgeous!

And more importantly, check out the board in the background.  There are only three cards left for me.  Woohoo!

What?  You saw those two down at the bottom? They are down there because they are too big for my quilting frame.  I'll have to make alternate arrangements to get them done.

Canoe Trip

This past Saturday was our annual canoe trip with the McMain's Developmental Center here in town. We take the kids and their families canoeing at Tickfaw State Park.  We've been doing this for seventeen years now.

We had lots of volunteers for canoeing.  There is also face painting.  We had a world champion jambalaya chef make us lunch.  There's also a water park there, so there was plenty to do.

It is so wonderful to see how much fun they are having.  I didn't get any pictures this year, but here are a few from prior years.

More Quilting Progress

Today I quilted a queen sized quilt for a friend and followed that up with three small quilts for Mom.

It's been a day of much accomplishment, but I have finally run out of steam!

The board looks so good.  Compare 4/18/15 to 5/3/15.

Woohoo!
