Small Things Take Time

Have you ever noticed how small things can take a lot longer than expected?

I had lots of 16 inch pieces leftover from my turquoise Pineapple Blossom quilt, so I decided it would make the perfect scrappy binding for a scrappy quilt.  Don't get me wrong.  It looks fabulous!  But it sure took a long time to piece all those things together with bias diagonal seams, then trim them and then iron them.

While I was at it, I decided to go ahead and sew the bindings for the Falling Leaves quilt as well as my Blooming Nine Patch quilt.  That last one was a really big sucker - 10 strips all together.

Anyway, this picture says it all.  Three tiny piles took me about 3 hours to do.  Whew!

Next step.....getting them on the quilts.

Island Time

This is the island in my kitchen.  It is a petite little thing but it is the perfect size for cutting.  Yes, it is just couple of inches bigger than my cutting mat.  The lighting in there is excellent and I can walk all the way around what I am cutting.  I should have gotten a picture while I was trimming up those three quilts yesterday.  Oh well...

I'll be putting in some more island time soon enough.  I'll get another picture then.
